God wants us to know Him personally and intimately. This fundamental truth from Exodus 3 shows us that we're always in an "Exodus 3 moment" - a time when God is revealing Himself and calling us into relationship with Him.

Who is God According to Exodus 3?

God reveals several key aspects of His character in this passage:
  • He is holy and different from all others

  • He is compassionate and just

  • He is faithful to His promises

  • He is self-existent ("I AM WHO I AM")

  • He is personal and knows us by name

How Does God Reveal Himself?

In Exodus 3, God appears to Moses in a burning bush, demonstrating both His holiness and His desire to connect with humanity. He reveals Himself because:
  • It's His nature to make Himself known

  • He responds to His people's desperate cries

  • He keeps His promises to previous generations

  • He wants to work through people to accomplish His purposes

What Does This Mean for Us Today?

This passage teaches us several important truths:
  • God wants a personal relationship with each of us

  • He can use us despite our past failures

  • His presence is sufficient to overcome our inadequacies

  • He calls us to both know Him and make Him known to others

  • Our individual identity matters in God's larger story

Life Application

This week, consider these questions and challenges:
  • How well do you really know God?

  • Are you seeking to know Him more deeply?

  • In what areas of your life do you need to remember "I will be with you"?

  • Where might God be calling you to serve Him, despite feeling inadequate?

Challenge: Take time each day this week to intentionally "take off your sandals" - create sacred space to meet with God and know Him better. Look for ways He might be revealing Himself in your daily life and circumstances.

Remember: Your purpose and God's call for your life are part of His plan to reveal Himself as the True God and Redeemer. Don't move past knowing Him - let everything else flow from that relationship.
