“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139:14 NIV)
Precious few of us would use this language of the Psalmist to describe ourselves. Rather than envisioning ourselves as “fearfully and wonderfully made,” we accentuate our perceived imperfections or inadequacies.
In our minds we reserve the description, “wonderful works of God,” for the beauty of nature or the majesty of the limitless universe. The Psalmist, however, saw evidence of God’s creative genius in his own life. Maybe we should, too.
Last Friday evening you declared without reservation the immeasurable worth of close to two hundred men and women. Our Night to Shine guests are all “fearfully and wonderfully made” by God. Each was crowned king and queen because that is exactly who they are! You, too, are a king or queen in the Kingdom of God!
The Bible describes us all as chosen people, members of a royal priesthood, citizens of a holy nation, and people who belong to God. Never forget this unalterable truth!
This Sunday we will be reminded of our immeasurable worth. I look forward to sharing that declaration. I hope to see you at 9:00 or 10:30.
