Last weekend, over 70 students, 16 college leaders, and 8 host homes from Alsbury joined with over 500 students from the Burleson area to participate in a yearly event called S.T.O.R.M. (Students Taking On Radical Mission). It is a weekend that focuses on personal discipleship and strengthening a student’s relationship with the Lord.
As I shared with the students, I don’t want for STORM to be a great experience for our students (which it was!), I want it to be significant! Being significant means it is a pivotal point of our journey with God that we look on and can confidently say, “I am more aligned with the heartbeat of God” as a result of being there. And attitudes, behaviors, perspectives are transformed into the likeness of Christ. That moves events like STORM from an experience to truly being significant.
And STORM 2017 was significant for our community. God moved in a powerful way in the lives of teenagers this weekend as many important decisions and commitments were made. Overall, there were 17 salvations, 8 students who feel God leading them into ministry or missions, and over 40 students who made commitments of rededication. And the reports of how God moved over the weekend are still coming in…
We have a great group of students here at Alsbury and God is doing some really significant things in their lives. I consider myself very blessed to be a part of the ministry to students. Thank you for your prayers and support of the church that make it possible for Alsbury to have an ongoing ministry to this very pivotal age.
