What would the result be if we only commented on things we have prayed over?
If we limited our personal opinion to matters we have earnestly prayed about?
If we posted to social media only after we prayed about the subject at hand?
All of us desire to serve as good examples of Christ and his love. Every Christian I know wants to accurately reflect Jesus is both word and attitude. We would have more success in meeting these goals if we prayed before expressing our thoughts.
The Bible challenges us to “pray without ceasing.” We are instructed not to “worry about anything, but to pray about everything.” We are to “be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.” It seems that committing ourselves to prayer before we offer our opinion would help fulfill each of these directives.
Such an approach to personal interaction would demand our becoming people of purposed prayer. Praying over our thoughts and opinions. Praying over the words we choose.
This approach would also help us to live quiet and humble lives and may help others to see Jesus more clearly in us. If that is the ultimate outcome the commitment would be worthwhile regardless of the challenge.
I seriously doubt that I will be fully successful in speaking only after I have prayed, but I intend to make this my goal. Will you join me?
