“Leave room on your Lego” is a simple explanation of how community works within our church family.
We are all like Legos, those colorful blocks children snap together as they build whatever their imaginations envision. Each Lego has multiple posts that allow for connection with other Legos. Once a Lego block is full, however, there is no way to connect with additional blocks.
People come into our church family each week desiring and needing to connect with others. We were all at that place at some point in the past. Today we may be well connected with others and our need for connection and community has been satisfied. As a result we make no effort to connect with new people.
I challenge you to always leave a post open on your Lego. In other words, always allow others the opportunity to find a point of connection and community with you. Your very best friend may end up being that person who visits Alsbury for the first time this Sunday. Your connecting with another person may be God’s answer to that person’s prayer.
Leave room on your Lego.
Church Conference, 1.11.15
Our first quarterly church conference of 2015 is this Sunday evening at 6:00. All church business is considered and determined by the congregation during these conferences.
The most pressing agenda item this Sunday is a proposed annual budget of $780,000.
Although contributions ran behind budget needs through much of 2014, end-of-year giving erased the shortfall and left us with a very healthy balance in our operating funds. As a result we will apply a considerable amount to the principle of our new building loan. The amount of that payment will be determined Sunday evening.
I hope you and your family will attend this important meeting this Sunday evening.
