“Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.” (Matthew 6:12 NLT)
How would your life change if you learned the Lord forgives our sins only to the degree that we forgive others?
Forgiveness is one of the more challenging things Jesus call us to do. Without a doubt we are called – even expected – to be a people who forgive others.
Colossians 3:13 reads, “Forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
We have a command.
We have an example.
We have no option but to forgive.
This Sunday, June 5, we will consider what “Extraordinary Forgiveness” looks like by visiting Genesis 50:14-21. Joseph forgave his brothers for selling him into slavery! The wrongs we have experienced may not rise to such a level. Maybe, just maybe, Joseph can help us fulfill God’s call to forgive.
