Tomorrow evening and Saturday morning is our first E3 Conference. Hours are 7:00 to 9:00 Friday evening and 8:00 to noon Saturday morning. The focus is ministry among people with intellectual and developmental differences (IDD).
General sessions will focus upon Embracing people with intellectual and developmental differences in every aspect of church life; Equipping one another for effective service within the ministry; and Empowering the IDD community to live life as fully as possible.
Dr. Robert Ellis, Associate Dean of Logsdon Seminary in Abilene will share the biblical and theological foundation for an IDD ministry in each of the three general sessions, one of Friday evening and two on Saturday morning.
Breakout groups will provide practical guidance for anyone considering involvement within our IDD ministry. Breakouts will include:
Lesson preparation and modification; Carla Kolb and Phyllis Sharman, presenters.
Understanding sensory challenges; Rachel McClure, presenter.
Communicating with non-verbal individuals. Mark McClure, presenter.
Classroom management; Elizabeth Schuman, presenter.
Preparing for Possible medical challenges; Amy Switzer, presenter.
Ministry beyond Sunday morning; Gene Longley, presenter.
People with intellectual and developmental differences are valuable members of the Alsbury family. As our church grows so does the need for new workers with both young people in our Kingdom Kids and Teens ministry, and adults in our Forever Friends department. We have an enviable ministry but there is so much more that we can do.
I hope you will attend the E3 Conference. It is not too late to register and participate. Simply click on the E3 link on our Alsbury web page and register.
I look forward to seeing you this weekend.
