Hurting people surround us every day.
They may not talk about their pain or share their struggles. I assure you, however, hurting people surround us every day.
Sometimes we are able to help those who we know are hurting. Other times we can do nothing more than listen and pray. We have no answer to their difficulty. We can’t change their situation or alter their circumstances.
Men are inclined to be “fixers.” I know this all too well. We want to offer a three-step response to any and every problem. We want solutions and remedies to every hurt that life might bring.
I have discovered, however, that quick fixes don’t always exist. Sometimes all we can do is hurt along with those who hurt. Grieve with those who grieve.
I’ve learned that sometimes people need a good friend rather than a quick fix. I am always able to be that good friend, but can’t always provide the quick fix. And maybe that’s just what the Lord intends.
