“Alsbury is a church of small groups, not a church with small groups.”
This statement expresses our goal and objective. Every person who calls Alsbury “home” should be actively involved in a Life Group.
Life Groups provide us the opportunity to engage in every aspect of our church family.
Through Life Groups we receive and provide ministry to others.
Through Life Groups we grow together in our understanding and application of Scripture.
In Life Groups we worship together through prayer.
Life Groups are like water. They are essential to the health of our church.
From time-to-time someone tells me they did not receive care from the church family during a difficult season. The concern is usually phrased as, “I was really struggling and nobody from the church ever checked on me.” When I ask what Life Group they are part of the answer is always the same: “I’ve never joined a Life Group.”
I often go to a hospital to pray with someone before surgery only to discover others from the church already there. In these cases members of the person’s Life Group already knew of the challenge and were providing care to the patient and the family.
A Life Group is where ministry happens in a growing church family. It is difficult to receive or provide care when you are one person among hundreds. However, when you are one person among ten or twelve it is both easy and natural to care for others while receiving care yourself.
