“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed
and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 NIV
Sunday focused upon “Extraordinary Discipleship.” I shared the questions that guided the weekly conversation I had with Steve Garrett, my “accountability partner,” for over twenty years. They continue to guide the regular engagement I have with another longtime friend and brother, Gary Tipton.
Several have asked for the questions in writing. Here there are.
Did you spend time in the Bible every day this week? If not, what did you prioritize over time in Scripture?
Did you spend time this week in Bible study with like-minded Christians? Who had the greatest influence upon your life and what did the conversation focus upon?
Did you spend time in prayer every day this week. If not, what did you prioritize over conversation with God through prayer?
What has God taught you this week about yourself and about him?
What did you see God do in your life this week that only he could have done?
These questions are purposed. The first three emphasize disciplines of spiritual development. They recognize the value of time in Scripture, in prayer, and with like-minded followers of Christ. They last two questions reflect a sense of expectancy that our lives will change.
I hope these help. I look forward to hearing how these questions were incorporated into your ongoing relationship with others. Maybe our Connect Groups could make use of them in the various weekly meetings that take place throughout our Alsbury family.
