This Sunday, August 13, we will observe the Lord’s Supper in both morning services.
Please read 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 before Sunday. Actually, would you read and reflect over that passage daily prior to Sunday?
Paul challenged the Corinthians with, “Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.” The reason is explained as, “Whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.”
Ask difficult questions as you read and reflect.
Am I truly prepared to worship Jesus when I go to church on Sunday?
What if the life and health of Alsbury were measured by my level of participation?
What would be the impact if my support of the budget needs of our church was shared by all others?
Am I a good example for others of a fully-devoted follower of Christ?
Expect to continue this self-examination in the worship service on Sunday. Sunday services are meant to challenge us in the area of commitment. That is certainly what you should expect this week.
Come to church fully aware of the directives Paul provided to the Corinthians.
Attend worship expecting the Lord to meet us there.
Humble yourself, confess your sins to Christ, and prepare yourself for worship.
I hope to see you this Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30.
