Mission and Values

Where We've Been

Alsbury began in 1994, the cooperative venture of Texas Baptists, the Southwest Metroplex Baptist Association, Cana Baptist Church, and Calvary Baptist Church, both in Burleson.
At its inception Alsbury was committed to sharing the gospel with our neighbors across the street and around the world. Since then Alsbury has grown into a community of Christ-followers that has launched new congregations and supported churches and ministries all over the world.

Our Mission

EVERYTHING we do as a church family is done in order to facilitate this general mission:

Loving Jesus by loving each other and drawing our neighbors into His family.

Loving Jesus

CORPORATE WORSHIP

While it is true there is much more to loving Jesus than regularly attending corporate worship, your commitment to gather regularly with the larger body is an important first step in becoming the person God designed you to be.

During corporate worship, we:

  • Exhibit a passion for Jesus, prizing him above all.
  • Hear from God through Scripture and teaching.
  • Empowered by His Spirit.
  • Respond to Him in obedience as we surrender our way for His way.

Loving One Another

PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS

At Alsbury, personal relationships are developed best in small groups, known as Life Groups. Gathering regularly with a smaller group of followers provides opportunity for lasting spiritual growth, along with a family that will care for you in ways that are not possible in a larger setting.

As an authentic spiritual family, we:

  • Honor, respect and encourage one another.
  • Study Scripture together.
  • Pray for one another.
  • Share life together.

Loving Others

SPIRIT-EMPOWERED MISSION

At this step in our journey, the mission of God becomes our priority…to make the name of Jesus famous in every corner of the world, and that through Him, and Him alone, can all people be made right with God. We seek, cultivate and nurture relationships with those outside the church family. We participate in the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20 through telling how our story became the Jesus  story, both locally and around the world.

We participate in the Great Commission by:

  • Serving our community.
  • Actively loving those who aren’t like us.
  • Participating in corporate or individual mission trips around the world.
  • Walking along side your neighbor by helping them become a fully devoted follower of Jesus.

Our Values

ABC’s of the Alsbury Baptist Church culture.

Authentic Family

Like any family we recognize that things are messy at times. But in love and with patience, we grow to become everything God intends for us. (Ephesians 2:19)

Biblical Practice

Scripture is our guide as to what it means to live in relationship with  Jesus and with one another. (Acts 4:32-35)

Compassionate reach

We respond to the needs of individuals and families with a holistic ministry by helping people experience “life, and life to the full.” (John 10:10)

Spirit Empowered

We recognize our total dependence upon the Holy Spirit to impact our world with any real significance. (Philippians 4:13).
