I love so many things about Alsbury’s VBS, but I really look forward to God Sightings.
The kids and leaders are encouraged each night to report things they see that are from God. Way back in the early days of Alsbury, we heard things like rainbows and sunsets. Those are great examples of the beauty God created, but they felt like “Sunday School answers.”
In recent years, God Sighting have changed a bit. Kids have noticed:
- Parents giving a bottled water to a homeless man
- Crew leaders greeting them with hugs and smiles
- A brother comforting his little sister when she was upset
- Friends being invited to church (among many other things)
It is so cool to hear kids noticing God’s work in the people around them!
VBS is all about the people of Alsbury being the hands and feet of God. We’ve seen small groups come together to help prepare a kid-friendly environment. Groups have joined together to pray for the families that will be impacted by the Gospel. People have shared invitations with neighbors, friends, and family. Individuals and groups are gathering supplies, donating time and energy, and sharing the creativity God gave them to make VBS truly spectacular!
We go LIVE this Sunday at 6:00 pm. If you can’t be on campus for VBS, please join us in prayer. Even if you can’t make Sunday – Wednesday, plan to join us on Thursday for family night. We’ll have food trucks, a massive water balloon fight, inflatables, and most importantly, friends, family, and neighbors, hoping to connect with the people of Alsbury. Be a part of this amazing opportunity to become a more united body ad we serve others. Let’s ENGAGE!
