Wednesday, May 2 – Pray for your immediate family. Ask God to reveal himself in unique and personal ways to each member of your family. Thank God for how he created each person in your family and thank him for how he continues to shape them daily. Consider what challenges each might face today and ask God to use those challenges to demonstrate his faithfulness to each person.
Thursday, May 3 – National Day of Prayer. Today Americans across our nation are praying for our leaders. Ask God to draw the hearts and minds of our leaders to himself. Pray that all serving in leadership will humble themselves and lead our nation in ways that honor God and care for people. Pray for Americans in general, asking God to humble us and draw us to himself. Ask the Holy Spirit to begin a spiritual awakening in America today. Ask that it might begin in you, your family, and in Alsbury Baptist Church.
Friday, May 4 – Pray for the leadership of our church. Decision are made daily that impact our ministry both today and in the future. Our leaders are fallible and desperately need to hear from God. They face frequent criticism. Church leadership can be a lonely place! Our pastors know that each decision will potentially determine who stays and who leaves the Alsbury family. Ask God to guide their decisions and thus lead our church in his will.
Saturday, May 5 – Ask God to prepare you and others for tomorrow’s worship gatherings. Hearts prepared for a divine encounter tend to hear more clearly from God. Pray for the wisdom to set aside all secondary matters and focus on what is primary: exalting the name of Jesus. Pray for all who will participate, asking God to do the same in them. Express your gratitude for tomorrow’s opportunity to gather with family who love God and each other.
Monday, May 7 – Thank God for what he has done in your life thus far through our 30 Day Prayer Challenge. Reflect over what he taught you in this first week of our commitment to pray. Thank him for his faithfulness to not only hear your prayers, but for the response you’ve seen thus far in your own life. Spend a few minutes thanking God for the gift of prayer that he has made available to all of us. Ask for continued help in this thirty day challenge.

Often Christians are defined by what we are against. God says we should be defined by our love. As you pray today, set aside your desire to be right, your opinions and your arguments. Ask Gd to fill you with His compassion, His grace, and His love. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
