Church happens best in circles; not in rows.
Every time we read the word, church, in the Bible the reference is to people. Church is not a building to go to or a service to attend, but a people to live life with. As the people of God we are expected to:
Encourage one another.
Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. —2 Corinthians 13:11
Build one another up.
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. —1 Thessalonians 5:11
Instruct one another.
I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another.
Accept one another.
Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. —Romans 15:7
Serve one another humbly in love.
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. —Galatians 5:13
Teach and admonish one another
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. —Colossians 3:16
Spur one another on toward love and good deeds
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, —Hebrews 10:24
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other.
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. —James 5:16
Offer hospitality to one another
Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. —1 Peter 4:9
Honor one another above yourselves.
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. —Romans 12:10
Have fellowship with one another.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. —1 John 1:7
Love one another.
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. —John 13:34
We fulfill these directives best in circles, not in rows.
This Sunday morning is Group Link at Alsbury in both of our worship services. Join others in experiencing church in circles rather than rows.
